Phenom II at 7Ghz

If you hit tjmax the cpu will throttle, decrease mhz, but that is not the turbo thermal limit mechanism, that is just thermal throttling. I had posted the intel white paper on turbo in below thread back when beta testing programs as trying to get accurate mhz. But turbo is primarily limited...

Strange Core i7

Gigabyte bios F3 On Ext and UD5 have TDP limit enabled, so in turbo mode you will have a 21 multi (turbo) with 1 or 2 cores heavy loaded or even 4 cores lightly loaded. But prime with more than 3 cores and turbo will disengage and be back to stock multi of 20. On all f4beta and newer bioses...

Poor i7 Overclocking - Motherboard problem?

Poor i7 Overclocking - Motherboard problem?

My i940, have about 20 prime runs and some linx, not a single time did I get an error on prime, 70% reboots, 30% freezes if unstable. You may just need more vcore or you may be reaching limit of prime stable bclk. Do you have LLC enabled? (Not just that I cant stand intel babysitting of...

Anybody else DISAPPOINTED by i7?

nehalem is not harder to overclock than penryn, just different rules with small learning curve. My E8400 OCed to 4 with 1.36 vcore bios, 1.33 cpuz. My Core i7 940 OC's to 4 with 4.2 turbo with 1.35 vcore bios, 1.33 idle, 1.31 load, and is prime stable 12 hours. for apps that primarily use...

Intel's Warranty....

Youtube video was interesting. An intel representative clearly stating on public video that overclocking does not void your warranty, then using intel software to overclock the front side bus, and claiming they would stand behind you if overclock responsibly, pretty much makes it clear to me...
