The only similar problem I had with a Win2k machine and USB is my mouse would sometimes just stop responding. I went to the properties of the mouse and set it to "allow this device to bring pc out of standby" and have never had a problem since.

The registry keys A.K.A. detailed should fix the problem. In fact, you can probably fix it by only removing the winsock keys, then removing EVERYTHING from your network properties, and rebooting. Corrupt winsock file cause this problem.

Hmmm. I have seen the solution somwhere in Micorsoft's Knowledge base. I think it had to do with a couple registry changes. I'll try to hunt it up later.
