I have a spare HDD that will not work as a primary slave, no matter what jumper settings, etc. It will work on the secondary IDE. But I have a CD & a CD/R/RW drives that normally occupy the secondary side of the IDE. If I put the CD (infra 52x creative) as the primary slave will it have any...

Tried the properties trick to refresh and it did work. Next question is what do I do to fix the Explorer so it will refresh automatically, as it used to under W95 and W98 ???????

Nortons utilities - for W2K ?

I had a look at Ontrack's utilities site and it does seem to be a serious competitor to Nortons. It also seem to get good reviews in the PC magazines (for what that is worth). The user interface appears to be more user interactive than Nortons. Thanks for the tip !

Nortons utilities - for W2K ?

With my old W95 I found that Nortons Utilities wroked well and helped keep the system running smoothly. Does the current Nortons Utility work well with W2K ? Or does W2K undertake sufficient maintaince itself ? I am haveing a lot of teething problems with W2K and would like to scrutinise the...

Reinstall of W2K - just system files or will it rewrite everything?

I recently fresh installed W2K Pro and had the same problem with the system hanging on moving the mouse. It went on for days but It did go away after numerous software updates, just not sure which one made the difference. Might have been SP2 for W2k. You should install that service pack in any...

W2K - Windows Explorer - strange happenings.

Since I upgraded some components of my rig (mobo, cpu, OS, HDD) I have had a lot of teething troubles. The one thing that puzzles me at the moment is in Windows Explorer. If I load a CD in either drive (1xCD, 1xCD/R/RW) explorer will show the volume name and contents. But, if I change the CD it...

CD-R/RW needs program for Win2000

My old Aadaptec CD creator 3.5 apparently will not work under Windows2000. Can anyone suggest an equlivent replacement that will work but does not cost the earth. Downloadable would be nice or someones superseeded CD. (xcaddict@hotmail.com) Thanks

IRQ sharing/conflict

CD-R-RW need to update firmware & drivers ?

I have a Delta OME- W141 CD-R-RW and it will not work properly under Win 2000 Pro, regardless of the CD managing program. The Delta website does not seem to provide updates or firmware support. They used to but the site has moved and searching the new one does not indicate that they have...

Can not view jpg files copied into a still camera ?

Thanks for the tip. I found that I can transfer files that originated in the camera back into it so long as I do not modify them in any way. Most photos I have are from sources other than the camera (it's a new addition). I have tried to copy them across in windows explorer, ACD photo, etc, all...

Can not view jpg files copied into a still camera ?

If I copy photos into my Pentax 330 still camera they are stored in the memory card but not recognised by the camera for viewing in the display or video output. What special hidden extras do the camera photos have that exotic sourced jpg photos do not. I want to transfer photos into the camera...

Which OS for this rig ????????

Thanks for the responses. I will go with Win 2000 Pro, I have just loaded the srevice pack 2 and it seems to have helped some of the glitches. Nothing ventured, Nothing gained !
