<< i use a program called CDex that i downloaded off download.com
it's simple but gets the job done >>
Yep CDex is probably the best one around not only
for ease of use but also for feature. Uses the LAME encoder by default and
is also nice and quick.
My guess is you had fdisked and sys'd the drive before you installed Win2k.
The second entry Windows is probably a boot to DOS command line. Since that
makes flashing your BIOS easier since you don't need a boot disk, I'd suggest just
changing the countdown from 30sec to 3-5sec, not to long but...
First bit of advice only make the first partion Primary. Everything else should be a logical drive
within and extended partition. Just makes the lettering sequence for drives easier, particularly with two+ drives.
Second you're going to need two empty partions for Linux. Unformatted is fine...
What I did with mine was add a single blowhole. It's located at the top middle of the righthand side panel. Managed to get a 92mm panaflo between the PS and the CD drive in the top 5 1/4 bay. Be careful to measure it before you cut, I just sorta winged it and just cleared the CD drive. It helps...
You don't actually need the aflash and the bios file on the disk itself. Once you've booted with the startup disk, just change to the dir where the files are. In my case e:\temp\a7v133. From there run aflash and point it to the full dir location for the BIOS file.
I'm just over 2GB just for my Win2000 install files plus the actual install. Got the data files on a separate partition. I'd say 3-4GB is better and add more if you have more then one person logging onto the PC.
Win2000 makes a backup of SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE
you've got to be able to drill down to that directory and access the
hidden files. At that point change the extentions so that the backup
becomes the main file. Did you try booting up using the Last Know Good Configuration
option...
Only once after I blew up the OS by installing one of those OS skinning programs. The uninstall didn't work as advertised and I was forced to trash it and reinstall.
Untailed is bare wires, best if you're using a Baybus or Rheobus to control your fans. Tailed is the wires with a power connector on the end. Use 3-pin if you want to connect it to a fan header on your motherboard. 4-pin if you want to use a regular molex. The only trouble with 4-pin is that you...
It doesn't have several coolers, Volcano II for example. But I picked a similar one and it gave be a temp that was only 1C off what MBM says by CPU is at.

D'oh, just figured out that you can manually add a HSF to the list. Just have to track down each one's C/W value. Easily found at...
They are switching servers. It'll take a while for the DNS changes to travel through the net to all the various DNS servers. They should be back online in less then a week from what I read in another post.
Copy the msconfig file from a Win9x system to either the \winnt\system or \winnt\system32 directory of your Win2000 install (can't remember which works, so I've got a copy in both). You'll get about 3-4 error messages when you run it, but just click ok and you'll end up with the startup tab...
