i mean that anandtech is a hardware forum, so mostly the good advice to come from AT would be hardware, not software-related

need Help with DOS !still looking!

look theres three ways to slow/stop the dos screen: 1. dir *.txt/p 2. type command.com|more 3. hit ctrl+s, you gotta be fast on this one ;)

the best way is to put his computer out in the living room where everyone can see him as they walk by. and hide the keyboard when he's home alone or something.

MySQL Question

ambiguous column name means that 1 or more tables has same fieldname, thus mysql does not know which field to which you refer. do this: select t1.firstname, t2.lastname from table1 t1 inner join table2 t2 on t2.id = t1.id

entity: my suggestion to you, is that you code it yourself. visit www.phpbuilder.com, an excellent resource with php articles and examples. you say you can't code very well. well if that's so, you should definitely code it yourself, rather than tweaking someone elses code you don't...

Want to Set up a FTP server..something idiot proof please

yeah serv-u is a good program to use. it sounds like your problem was that you made the home directory point to the root dir, but forgot to give the user read access to the drive haha. i've made this stupid mistake before.

Help needed, Does installing windows xp delete or alter files on the HD?

To my knowledges, it should not unless it formates the drives. Not sure but I assume it will overwrite windows related folders like "Windows", "WINNT", "Program Files", "My Documents", etc etc.
