So my Verizon contract just ran out and I'm looking to replace my ultra-budget Galaxy S3 with something that isn't so sluggish. I know very little about my choices. I have a Project Fi Nexus 6P sitting next to me but I'm rethinking spending this much ($500) and have some second thoughts about...

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I've already spoken to my buddy and he's fine with whatever I want to do. I've got high standards for when I borrow someone else's stuff, though, and insist on avoiding making this his problem in any way.

Gas chainsaw recommendations?

I borrowed a friend's 14" Craftsman chainsaw and it was stolen while in my possession. Now I need to replace it with something as good or better. It was 10-15 years old, no idea of the model #. What's something comparable for a light duty homeowner saw? Any brands to totally avoid?

Board games

I've been playing some simpler, co-op ones with my kids (6 & 10) - Forbidden Desert is our current favorite. I can't wait for the younger one to be old & mature enough to start taking on higher level rules and strategy.

I'd hoped this was common enough a problem that there'd be a "click here, dumb ass" sort of simple answer. I also wasn't sure which tree to be barking up - the PC or the receiver/TV, so skipped most of the details. Based on this thread, seems like the problem's between the PC and receiver? PC...

HTPC/HDMI trouble

Frequently when waking from sleep, my PC will lose audio, giving me an error that it's detected a DVI to HDMI adapter. It's attached to a lower end Yamaha receiver, which is in turn attached to a Visio lcd. The issue will always happen if I wake the PC before the TV, but will sometimes still...

I'd be less concerned with aerodynamics than the apparently leaky hose/fitting/whatever and it's plume of whatever it's spraying. Presumably it's a gas/fluid that's important to the continued operation of the airplane.

Adobe PDF Mass optimizer?

In Acrobat X: Action Wizard tab->Create new action->Document processing->reduce file size. In the dialog you'll have the option to run it on a folder of files.

Party like it's 1990!

My first computer was a C64 with a cassette drive, hah. Eventually upgraded to dual cassettes, then to 2x floppy drives. My first modem was a 300 baud :) Good times.

HVAC pros: recommend a programmable thermostat

I picked up a Honeywell from Costco over the weekend and was surprised by the "OT1" and "OT2" wires, which the install manual had no idea how to deal with. I want programmable because I'm gone 9-10 hours in the middle of the day and am too much of a space case to remember to set it on the way...
