Ok, so I went to boot my pc into windows for the first time in about 2 weeks (go SuSE!) and gives me the message "You must activate windows before you can log on"...no biggie, i click ok and the activation window comes up and says "Your copy of windows is already activated", yet it still will...
this is a little off topic, but if it is just for users accessing the internet, you might want to look into this.

linux is obviously more secure and nearly impossible to infect, but i dont know if you planned other windows uses for the PC
I would think that the Repair function of Windows XP would work. It would require the OS cd, though. As long as you can find a Windows XP home disc, you should be able to do it. All you have to do is boot to that CD, then press enter. DO NOT go to the recovery console. It will tell you that...
If you used SuSE and Mandriva, you will probably like kubuntu more than ubuntu because of the KDE compared to the GNOME, unless you wanna try GNOME.
Personally, i like KDE ALOT more than GNOME
