it's not a crime to install an OS on a new computer you just bought, unless you do not delete the same serial/activated install from your old computer first (this is according to the MS terms of service). If you can convice the MS customer service rep that you trashed your old comp for a new one...
you can purchase a separate license (w/o media here ) through MS, they will give you a new serial and you can activate your second computer. The whole activation thing was to circumvent what you want to do - - run one licensed copy of the OS on more than one machine.
