Any deals or best prices on WinXP Pro?

Interesting links, I didn't think there really was such a thing as discounted Windows XP. I just wonder what will happen when I inevitably upgrade to Windows Vista. My XP copy is an Upgrade edition, so I have to stick the old Win98 CD in the drive when (re)installing it to prove I qualify...

Huh? Do SiS chipsets have a bad reputation or something? I've got a couple machines with their chipsets (including two trusty K7S5As) and they run like champs even after several years. Or is there just a "anything besides nVidia sucks" thing going on. BTW - Love the pics. Too bad you...

I don't know why many of you are so hesitant to flat out ban someone who's sole existance on the forum is to be a troll, incite trouble (such as the Pakistani thread), and post total crap just to increase his post count and annoy others. Of course, he'll just re-register under a new name...

CDR media - What would YOU buy?

I had the same problem with some GQ DVD+Rs, but once I installed the latest Roxio EMC7 update, it was able to burn them at 4x just fine.

I get the spool of 100 GQ (Great Quality) discs from Fry's Electronics for 9 bucks from time to time. Cheap and mostly reliable. Sure I get a few bad ones once in a while, but that happens when I get TDK or Memorex as well.

Why is there NO SCSI DVD Burners??

And not to mention the fact that everyone has IDE controllers in their PCs, but hardly anything outside of servers has SCSI controllers. Plus, would you need one for Fast SCSI, Wide Fast SCSI, Ultra SCSI, Ultra Wide SCSI, Ultra-2 SCSI, Ultra 3-SCSI, Ultra-320 SCSI, etc etc.

Some options on my new PC

I've been using WD, Seagate and Maxtor drives for years and I've found little difference in them. They all seem to be equally reliable and similar in performance. If the 5 year warrenty is important to you, go for it. Otherwise, you're probably going to be just as happy with the Western Digital.

creating a blowhole

Now that's a good idea. I did it with a Dremel, and it burned through four cutting tips and a good half hour to cut the complete hole. And it was far from a clean, even cut.
