I run an Athlon 700, with 384MB and a G400MAX. It works just fine. The G450 is a bit slower however. If you don't do much gaming, its not that much of an issue. I love my G400MAX, and while I play the latest games (I run a review website), I have not yet decided to upgrade to a GeForce GTS...
I am running a setup much like that with the Promise controller, only I have a Zip250 on my controller instead of a hard drive. I have a TDK VeloCD (it has burnproof) and a Pioneer 10X DVD Slot on my secondary channel, and they work fine. I have had no problems with my CD drives to date.
I wouldn't go with the Radeon. For a good gaming card that will do a good job under Win2k, I would go with the MX and not the Radeon.
BTW, Win2k is great.
Nero is a good burner. The interface is a bit funky, but it does a good job. If you don't really need advanced features and just want to stick with regular burning and imaging, I would just stick with what you have.
