I think they do it on purpose. Basically it is a scam, only it is legal. Imagine if you don't know much about interfaces and/or you are old and/or are not very focused, it is very easy accidentally to buy one or more of their crap products that does nothing.

Sim City 5

This made me feel nostalgic. SimCity 3000 was one of my favorite games when I was in middle school... I feel old. :( It is perfect time to release a new SimCity, it has been very long time since a game I would like to play came out. Now if they could only make a new Quake, new Monkey Island...
