Battery Life on Laptops?

I actually have great gaming performance. Maybe not as good as some desktops or higher-powered laptops, but my Centrino 1.4 does awesome in HL2, etc., coupled with my ATI 9600 128MB gfx card.

suggest a power supply for this setup ..

floppy Drive Burnt?

Sure you can run your system without it connected. You can also get a new drive at any computer store for almost nothing.

What's currently the best DVD-ROM drive? (must be quiet!)

Yeah I have the Pioneer slot-load drive and it is great, but it can get pretty loud. I love the slot-loading feature though.

Yes, they both use the same chip. The 5.1 card has the ability to decode AC-3 (5.1)audio signals without an external decoder. The card acts as a decoder. You would want to get this card if you had surround (4.1) speakers that did not have an AC-3 decoder.

Looking for a decent, inexpensive set of speakers.

Speakers popping :(

<< I just got cable and whenever there is activity from the cable modem, it makes my speakers pop. The cable modem is hooked up through a USB hub. Does anyone know what this could be? Thanks >> Check for conflicts between your sound card and video card and your sound card and USB controller. :)

Which software decoder for DVD playback???

PowerDVD is great for the video part of it. I can't speak for the audio because it is passed digitally from the DVD to my AC3 receiver without being touched by the software or a decoder on the sound card.

Ok, I'll look into how many programs are actually using the hd. Also, I think that I can throttle back my processor...I might look into going to 50% or so when listening to MP3s.

Well I have just figured a few things out here that might help. I have an Infrared port that was never turned off so I'm sure that drained it quickly. Also, I have a PC card and I think that those drain quickly. I also should probably get rid of every program in the system tray that I'm not...
