Gateway actually has a program called gwscan that writes Zero's to the HDD, I use to work for them but not anymore. But now I would say that I still use that program on about a weekly basis, doesn't matter what kind of drive it is either.
What programs are you running in the background and did this happen before you upgraded to SP3? Is this outlook or Outlook express? and Does it ever happen with any other program?
Craftsman tools are great, I've had to replace several of them and everytime I have just walked in and handed it to the clerk and they borught me another on eno problems, no hassles.
I work for a computer shop and I know we order most of our stuff from Newegg. We also have a vendor's acount with Ingram and Newegg is consistantly $2-3 cheaper than our wholesseller.
