The Jasper sticker is stuck to the motherboard near the rear fans, some people claim they've been able to view it through the vents in the console, I can't confirm that.
Yes even if you have a harddrive attached you can still select the on board 256mb separately so it shouldn't be hard to tell if you have it or not. Like when you are playing a game and you go to load or save, the screen will pop up asking harddrive or 256 memory.
Wow GRID just froze twice on me, I was almost expecting to hit reset at see the red lights start flashing. So far it seems like GRID is the problem, but I dunno.
Well guys I couldn't resist, after having my other 360s taken apart every few days, I wanted to pop this one open and check it out. Still runs too hot for my liking. Also wanted to be 100% that my motherboard was labelled a Jasper. The rear fans do look a bit different than what I'm used to from...
Seems like it. I was at the seattle blog since page 1, and I'm still here now even though I have a Jasper. The hunt isn't over until everyone gets their hands on one!

I wouldn't risk it based on that "value bundle 2008" sticker alone, that could apply to Falcons as well. I would try to wait it out until you find one labelled 12.1a.
I just played a little bit of Sega Tennis for the heck of it and the system is nice and quiet when a game is spinning. Yes you can hear the DVD drive if you focus on it but no big deal. Again I'm comparing to an old system with 12volt fans and other mods so this is like paradise for me. Didn't...
Yup 12.1A is your best bet.
Just got done trying mine out and trying the new dashboard for the first time. This thing runs VERY quiet but I am comparing to an old console where the fans were modded to 12volts and had an extra 70mm fan.

Wow I didn't know so many other guys here were from IL, makes my job easier! I'll either check out that Walmart or Fry's tomorrow! If either of you guys want to provide more details about which store and if they had more in stock I'd appreciate it!!
Arcade consoles have been coming with a 256 memory card in the box for a while now, so that's not a reliable way to look for a Jasper....
And for everyone else worried about Jaspers and Falcons existing with the same lot number, well, we've waited this long, perhaps it's safest to wait one...
Wow, I was really busy the last few days working on my friends car and then playing a show with my band last night, then I come back here and see that Jaspers are here!
I find it strange that someone with a 360 from the same lot and team still got a Falcon, I will probably wait for the lot...
I agree I *don't* think that's just a reflection, it looks like there is something in between the two rows of pins. Maybe we're onto something! Better photos would definitely help.
