Slow response time during file access - can't determine cause

Well it's an SATA drive, so I don't see any setting for PIO or DMA on it. Thanks for the tip though :)

Looking for some suggestions on things to try, as my next step is a reformat and reinstall of windows. Here's a summary of the types of issues I'm seeing: - opening file explorer (specifically My Computer) freezes for upwards of a minute before displaying - opening files in any program...

I guess not having a UPS finally caught up to me. The power went out the other day, and now my computer won't boot. I am at my wits end after 2 full days of swapping parts and trying to figure out what died. I have tried a new mobo, then a new CPU, then a new PSU, to no avail. The power seems to...

BSOD but stable, wtf?

Well I just bought it brand new less than a month ago, based on it's ratings of power users from xtremesystems.org. It's supposedly made by seasonic I believe and has an Antec brand stamped on it. It's too late for me to return it, so if it's bad I guess I'm SOL.

That's the thing though, don't leave your RAM settings on AUTO. Switch it to manual and it won't read it by SPD. Then try those settings and give it a try.

Looks like the rated volts on that RAM is 2.0v. You said you had a cheap stick that would work, right? Boot up with that, and go to BIOS and set your VDIMM to +0.2v, save and shutdown, then swap out the RAM and try to boot.

I actually read about people having problems with the gigabyte controller. Since I'm not running raid I just used the intel drivers, the yellow connectors. I let windows install those.

Hmm that's a weird one, but no mine isn't like that. In fact, my PSU has no external connector or wires for the fan, it's internal I guess. I have an Antec NeoHE 500w PSU, which should be more than enough juice for my system. And my SATA drive is actually running as IDE in BIOS, whatever that means.

Yeah like I said, it's 6+ hours memtest stable at these settings. It also passed memtest for 13 hours at a lower fsb. The RAM is fine, it has to be a voltage or a timing is just a little off methinks.

Hoping someone can help me out with a problem I'm having. I have OC'ed my system, but it is Orthos stable for 12 hours and memtest86+ stable for 6 hours. I haven't had a chance to run them longer than that, but honestly that seems pretty damned stable to me. However, I am randomly getting blue...
