Dell BIOS issues

Re the above: I tried setting it to IDE mode first thing; Dell's BIOS, as expected, didn't offer the option. Also, the system is no longer in my hands, so /shrug. Unsolved mystery of wrong drivers will remain unsolved, I guess. >.< Last note: When I was dealing with this on my own...

Dell BIOS issues

Well, I am retarded: there was a floppy drive, it was just hiding. I blame lack of sleep and bad enclosure design, lol. Plus sticky floppy doors that don't open when pulled on. BIOS is updated; HDD is still undetected. GAH. BSOD is very replicable, however, so it's obviously something...

...so you're saying that I need to hook up a floppy for the sole purpose of extracting the boot sector, so that I can copy the boot sector over to a USB, so I can boot off the USB and run the stupid Dell BIOS script? ...seriously? There is no other way? Edit: Also, thank you for directly...

It's a marketing thing. It makes them seem more innovative or creative or customer/consumer oriented when they offer lots of choices---makes the consumer think that this company is really on top of its R&D, tailoring different products to different users... when it's pretty much all the same...

Best place to buy anti-static bags?

If there are any computer/electronics stores in the area, just wander in and politely ask if they have any extra bags sitting around that they want to get rid of. They throw all that stuff out anyway; I'm sure most places would be to happy to give you some.

Wells Fargo or Bank of America

I use Wells Fargo. Very professional, very reliable, good customer service, never been pushy with me about their programs. I've paid a credit card bill late... twice, three times now?, called them, and they took off the late fee. I like them a lot.

Am I the only one who doesn't find Stephen Colbert funny?

When he is funny, he can actually get a real laugh out of me. Most of the time, though, he makes me roll my eyes. I mean, I understand why what he's saying/doing is supposed to be funny, but I'm not really that entertained.
