This is the last place I thought I'd ever see a post about GP shifting.
I've done a lot of track days and whoever is telling you that a GP shift pattern is better for ground clearance is feeding you a lot of b.s. As MiataNC said, you should not be shifting gears mid-corner anyway, so the...
That's my gut feeling too. I'm going to buy a new PS today and try it.
jjsbasmt - I'm pretty sure it's not the cable because it first happened with my IDE drive and now the identical problem is happening with my SATA drive.
Bump... anyone?
The new hard drive with a completely new installation of XP is doing the exact same thing. Upgraded the BIOS on my motherboard but no luck.
Over the last two weeks my hard drive would not boot properly (Western Digital 80GB IDE Special Edition w/ 8MB Buffer). It was definitely getting power, but right when Windows started to load I would hear a click, then it would stop reacting altogether. It would freeze on the black Windows XP...
If you turn on hyperthreading with a P4 or Xeon CPU, will the Windows task manager show it as 2 separate CPUs? We have a server here that was supposed to be dual-CPU but the task manager is showing 4 CPUs. Same with the system summary in computer management.

I'm about to switch out my dead Geforce 4 4200 :disgust: with a new Radeon 9700 Pro I just got. I just want to make sure my driver installation goes in clean. Also are there any issues with Catalyst 3.10 (do any of the older versions work better)? Thanks in advance.

1. Boot from Windows XP CD.
2. DO NOT select "Repair" from the first...
FYI if anyone else has had a similar situation, it ended up being the video card. I'm leaving about a 2% chance that it's the AGP slot on my motherboard. Anyway I tried an old TNT 64 card I had lying around and POOF! My computer booted up on the first try. I was gonna buy a new monitor but...
Egale, I'm not overclocking anything, and I only have one stick of RAM. It's kinda weird though, I can play 2D games all night (like Age of Empires II for hours last night) and many other 3D games no problem. Where do I find memtest?
Scratch my power supply theory, I just tried it with a better one and still the same exact issues. Gundog, I think a bad monitor cable would just give me a bad picture signal - shouldn't crash the whole thing. I'm starting to think the video card itself is going bad. I double checked the fan...
