I would look at the ASUS ROG line specifically the overclocked G752 with a 1070. Their cooling is fantastic, I have one of the cheaper models with a 1060, and it never gets hot and I can barely hear the fans. Heavy yes, but if you want it to last a long time weight + better cooling is better...

I'm excited, difficulty is down, though not as much as price. I'm still netting .02 BTC/day with my two measly video cards. I will take that any day. Don't say it too loud or difficulty will spike. Having said that I'm not expecting Max to be the most profitable for me in another week.

Actually that sounds about right, sorry for the odd number I gave, that's what my pool reports, I don't think they play well with the algorithm. My 7950 gets about 250Mh/s and the 290x gets 500Mh/s. I had to play with the 290 a lot as it went from high 300's to low 500's with minimal change in...

Not sure why you guys are getting such bad rates on max. With difficulty ranging between 100,000 and 135,000 I get about 13 Max every 24 hours only running ~1.5Mhash, thats a 7950 and 290x. With the exchange pretty steady at .0024 thats .0312 BTC/day or $20. I can't get close to that anywhere...

I've always had luck on the hashfaster pools so I use https://max.hashfaster.com/ not bad so far, finding blocks quickly. The Sapphire Tri-X 290x I bought a few weeks ago for $700 looks like a steal now. I know it was still overpriced for the hash, but it gets me just over 900k while running...

AMD 14.1 Beta causing artifacts?

I had the same problem with 14.1 and mining on both a 290x and 7950. I ended up resetting them to defaults and not overclocking. Oddly, temps went down and hashes went up. My 7950 was sitting at 550k @ 70C, but now is right around 600k @ 62C. I'm still probably going to go your route and...

MSI or ASUS Gaming Notebook

You might look at the G750JX, it's about the same price as the MSI, with the same HD, and memory. It also has the 770m vs the 765m in the MSI. I just got the G750JX a few months ago and love it. I looked at the MSI but because of the slimmer profile they got pretty hot. I keep the Asus on my lap...
