I need some overclocking help.
I've gotten my E6400 up to 420 FSB. Anything over that and XP won't load.
Here's what I'm running now:
vDIMM 2.1v
vCore 1.5v
Timings: 5-5-5-18
vFSB 1.2v
vMCH 1.65v
vICH 1.2v
Any ideas to get me over FSB 420?
Update: I can't last seven seconds...
So I've got my new rig overclocked. While it's nice to have a snappier CPU it does run hotter and I need to crank up the fan speed as a result. Thing is, if I'm just surfing or writing code, I really don't need all that speed.
Is RM Clock the answer?
I downloaded it but have no idea how to...

Select motherboard, 775, P5W DH Deluxe.
Click on BIOS.
Click on 1707.
Download it.
Click on Utilities.
Click on the EZ Flash Utility.
Download it.
Flash with EZ Flash to BIOS 1707 in XP.
Install Vista.
I also have that mobo. What BIOS are you running?
I ask because the P5W DH Deluxe cannot install Vista unless you have BIOS 1707.
If you don't have that version, login to XP, install 1707, try installing Vista and post back here.
Nice setup :)
I do have the fan installed in the Tuniq, I just have it turned off in SpeedFan. After my first OC of 333 FSB I'm around 57c/54c with no fan noise at all. I like to keep my PC as quiet as possible.
I realize if I OC anymore I will have to turn the fan up some more. Problem...
Phil - I hit 2.668 on my first try, basically turning my E6400 into an E6700!
FSB 333
DDR2 666
vDimm 2.0v
vCore 1.375v
vFSB, vMCH & vICH Auto
2668mhz
51c/48c
Now to up the FSB 5mhz at a time.
Couple more questions:
1. In SpeedFan, what do the System and AUX temps refer to...
Thanks for the quick replay Phil. If I could get to 400 FSB (no higher) I would be very happy.
Some suggest that I just clock the FSB to 400 and set the memory at its standard DDR2-800 and timings at 4-4-4-11 (w/ voltages mentioned above) and boot. Do you think that is a good idea?

New P5W DH Deluxe owner here. I also have Corsair 6400C4 RAM.
So if I've understood Phil's post correctly in order to OC I should start with the FSB at 266 and underclock the RAM at 533 and only adjust the FSB from that point forward (since the RAM will auto OC)?
And I should have my...
OK so here's the updated build:
Asus P5B-E $158
Has everything I need - 3 PCI slots, Firewire and LGA775.
E6400 $224
Scythe Ninja Plus $40
Won't OC so I won't be using a fan with the Ninja.
Corsair Value Ram DDR2 533 $212
Again, no OCing so 533 should be fine.
Total: $634...
