I vote in one of X1900 card. Maybe a XT, but if you're thinking in overclock, XTX is a better choise. But maybe a Sapphire one was better than this Asus.
X850XT has a better performance, but 6800GS has SM3. For now, SM3 is not essencial, but in the future it can be almost essencial, like it is in Splinter Cell - Chaos Theory. But my vote is for X850XT
yeah, 7800GT is much faster than 6800GT. With 7800GT, and a decent rig, you can play almost every games in 1600*1200, some's with AA. With 6800GT, you are limited to 1280*1024, some even to 1024*768 (like FEAR)
for watch DVD's and video editing, a graphic card isn't realy needed, with GMA9x0 doing pretty well. But of course that if you have a better graphic card, other tasks, like gaming and even watching DVD when doing other things, like ripping something, you will have a better experience. Don't you...
X1800XL overclock like hell. It's frequent a XL suporting Xt frequency's and in that case GT is worse. With this last drivers, ATI has made X1800XL lightly better than 7800GT in some benchmark/games, thing that didn't hapen in the past.
Some X700 suport Crossfire. HKEPC have tested them some time ago. I think that there were Sapphire's one. Crossfire doesn't requires a master card. Only X8x0 and X1800/X1900 requires. X1300 and X1600 work in crossfire without master card, as X300 and X700 that HKEPC had tested.
I have a rig based in 939 Opteron 170 and I don't think to change it sooner than the next socket of AMD (or possibly Intel). AM2 socket is so similar to 939 that whoever had a 939 CPU don't have any advantage trading his CPU for a AM2 one.
ATI Xpress 3200 (RD580) was mean't to be launched at the same time thar X1900 series, but was delayed until the first weeks of the next month. If you can wait, buy a Xpress3200 board, like A8R32-MVP deluxe of Asus. If not, buy a actual Xpress200 or nForce 4 board. But I don't think that...
I'm interested in overclock, and also in top performance, and these are the best motherboards available for socket 939. I just don't know what to choose
A8R32-MVP is expected to be released at 24th January, the oficial lauch of the chipset.
Opteron hasn't a better performance than the FX, but is at almost half of the price, and the performance is very similar.
Where I live, i can't find a CRT bigger than 19", because I wanted a 21" or a 20". So, the choise final for speakers are Z-5500 or Gigaworks. I want speakers 5.1 because I will use them for gaming, also for music, but major for gaming. Thanks any help
