suggestions for a switch?

My original search was for an unmanaged gigabit switch (which this Dell 27xx should do OK as). Since this is a home network it shouldn't be a big deal, the mgmt capability was only a freebie from my perspective. cmetz, thanks for the heads-up on this Dell model.

cmetz, I just bought the 8 port mgd version of this Dell 27xx switch for home use ($76). Could you elaborate (point me to more info) on the crashing and less than wire speed performance articles/references ? Wonder who the original OEM was for this hardware ? I know Compaq inherited...

Where can I get a DVI out for my Foxconn 6150?

The foxconn board with the onboard dual display DVI + VGA output is the 6150K8MD -8EKRSH. The 6150K8MA you have does not support that capability with onboard video.

WinFast 6150K8MA-8EKRS TV-Out problem?

Which to get... Biostar TForce6100-939 or MSI K8NGM2-FID - 939?

OC aside, the Biostar mb won't work as an effective htpc with it's 6100 based onboard video, because it doesn't support the critical hw accelleration (MPEG2 decoding, deinterlacing, etc) for SD/HD TV displays like the 6150 based chipsets DO. Check nvidia website for chipset/video card...

Anybody recently buy AMD?

AMD, in my case 939, because I want tried and tested mATX solutions that work with linux and onboard video for multiple htpc frontends/backends in a networked htpc setup. (MSI 6150 mATX w/ 3200+ S939 frontend) AM2 mbs are likely to be there quicker (maybe already) and be less expensive than...

AMD X2 HTPC build

IIRC, the onboard 6150 solutions are more like 6600 video card solutions with respect to hardware acceleration features like De-Interlacing and Inverse Telecine for htpc use. The 6150 onboard video has more htpc capabilities than the 6200 video cards (check out nvidia's website for a comparison).

How to flash a NIC's MAC address?

Thanks cmetz. Doesn't matter how many OS distros I try (XP SP2, Ubuntu, FC4, FC5, puppylinux, freeBSD, etc), I get the same problem every time. I know how to use ifconfig in linux and ipconfig in XP to change the MAC address to something else, but it's obvious the EEPROM for that...
