Chosing network card priority

What OS are you running? With Windows 2000/XP, right click my network places, select properties, open the Advanced menu up top and then choose Advanced Settings. You'll see a list of all the NIC's in the system, and arrows for bumping them up and down (priority)

No login name at startup screen!

I don't know if this works for the home edition, but it does for professional. Hit Ctrl once then ctrl-alt-delete at the logon screen. You should get a logon box (2k style), and you can logon with the administrator account, assuming you know the password.
