Well I got it working. I'm writing this from my new computer with Win XP x64. :D
My problem was this, the mobo had RAID on by default. Once I disabled all RAID it booted up just fine.

Hmmm well I'm not sure. If you do find out anything on this please post to this thread the resolution, because our problems seem identical (despite me having a SATA)
Are you using a SATA drive? I'm having the same problem right now and I think it may be related to the RAID/SCSI 3rd party drivers?? I'm not sure I'm just posted my thread and saw yours afterwards :P

Is that true on all motherboards? Is there maybe a BIOS setting that sets it to be SATA/150?
