foamy water/pump rattle Is my MCP-600 too powerful?

Thanks for all your suggestions. I feel like an idiot. All I had to do was fill the res a little more, and the foaming issue went away. Anyway, I used 1 oz WW/ 1L H20. I have 1/2" tubing. I'm not sure what a baffle is, but the bay-res I bought has a divider that's supposed to help with...

I just installed a new pump and reservior in my water-cooled setup, and have two (potential) issues. 1) There are very few bubbles in the lines, but when I turn the pump on, everything turns to foam. I'm using distilled H20 w/ water wetter. The water velocity seems rather..umm...vigorous...

Please critique my new case / cooling setup... and help answer my Q's =)

That's what I used to think, but it's not necessarily the case. Some of the popular, cheap pumps are actually quite loud, especially after months of use (ViaAqua). My old ViaAqua was louder than any air cooling fan I ever heard (even the big Delta's).

To replace or not to replace (a water pump)

I had the same problem with the Via Aqua. One pump was way too loud, and another pump broke down after only few months use. Now I'm using a "Quiet One" pump from Foster's and Smith, but I'd have to say that I'm not particularly happy with this one either. It is quieter than the Via Aqua...

water - cooling the cooler

I've heard of people cooling water rigs with small (dorm-sized) refrigerators. It's easy enough to build in its simplest form, just put the rad in a fridge (maybe submerged in a liquid) and use some extra tubing and a drill to close the loop back to the case. A pelt on the reservior or...

I use distilled H2O w/ water wetter. I'm pretty sure the shaft is ceramic. I did open it up when I did the reservior mod, and I think it was ceramic. The magnet may have corroded, or just got some wear. I used to leave it on most of the time. This pump is supposed to be compatible with...

Coolant level is good (it never changes, so - no leaks) I use distilled water and water wetter. I am running he Via aqua pump inline. But the pump shouldn't be able to tell the difference, 'cause I modified the intake to have a small reservior (holds ~ 1/2 req'd volume, so it's not optimal)...

Which is better for temps? Reservoir or no reservoir?

I vote that a reservoir is better, but not because of temps. Reservoir just makes it easier to purge bubbles, and is faster to fill. I have a custom-made reservoir/bubble-trap attached to my in-line pump, and it's lots faster to fill than when I had a tee. I don't really have to fill very...

What really matters is the temperature equilibrium established in your water setup via heat transfer: heat in (CPU, pump, etc) = heat out (radiator or heater core + fans) It really shouldn't matter how much "reserve" water you have in the system, except in the short term. With additional...
