am running a 3400+ here and the core is certainly worth it... the raw speed is amazing... much faster than my old 3.0c rig...
if cost is an issue.. go for a barton... if its not a cost issue get an a64 but if you can wait get a socket 939...
did you guys even bother to read the quote I posted from xbit labs... attributed to the nvidia pr director from europe ?
um... FM is doing NOTHING to the compiler... the nvidia PR guru himself admits his claims were bogus (as we all knew anyways)...
therefore the optimizations have...
afaik fullstream was introduced in radeon 9000 and above... in hardware...
whether the deblocking was done in software before I dunno coz I never paid attention to it :)
btw yes... it does look fine for me as well...
just fyi for everyone who thinks FM is doing something damaging to nvidia's compiler
ergo... perhaps some PR people should learn about the technical feasability of their statements before they make it..
so anyways.. back to square one... it seems there were application specific optimizations...
meh just use powerdvd or something ;)
but yah its an issue I was a little unhappy with as well..
fortunately I get free updates coz of my card but I certainly understand the frustration...
I have seen some @ best buy... you may want to keep checking their website.. I know the one down the road from me has some cards in store.. well boxes anyways :)
this coming from a guy using an 8500 and incorrectly listing his cpu as a barton @ 2500mhz that is currently operating @ 3200mhz ?
:)
no offense m8... but the cards you just called crap are actually pretty good... specially for the perforance...
9600pro's can be had in the $140 range and that...
reduction of IQ == what you were seeing... that is a fact...
unfortunately fanboi's can spin it so it looks or sounds more negative than it is... but thats with any case...
they have the raster images posted @ b3d...
ati and nvidia in general are rendering per specification... both are a lot darker but apparently this has something to do with ingame gamma or something.. I didnt read that much in it... I was checking out the imgs...
slight degradation with some...
you confuse cheating/optimizations in real world games with the same in benchmarks...
benchmarks are designed to stress certain things... not rendering something in that test is going to give false results...
in games... do whatever... occulsion culling already occurs for both ati and nvidia...
it depends on the game development and hardware used...
some games developed optimized for a particular hardware tend to show better performance on it... ie... neverwinter nights...
ergo.. it can happen that a lesser card outperforms a more expensive card... on occasion...
