Will never happen. Aside from all their legal obligations, the European market is simply bigger, and more profitable than the American market. Pulling out would be suicide.

Phenom II or Intel Core 2 Quad 9650?

Phenom II purchased now

It may be a justification thread, but that doesn't mean it's without merit. There are people conflicted about the PhII and whether to just hop on AM2+ or wait for AM3. FWIW, I went with the former. (PhII + Motherboard) from NewEgg was an absolute steal.

Couldn't really wait to build a new system, my current one is knocking on deaths door, RAM is borked and the PSU doesn't have much left, the fan went a couple of days ago. The Q8200/8300 would have made a horrible purchase, IMO. The Ph II 920 is only $17 more than the 8200 and outperforms...

AMD Reports Fourth Quarter and Annual Results

I pretty much agree with everything, consumers shouldn't be propping up companies and if AMD goes under a new #2 will have to emerge, the thing is, I think it's doubtful a new #2 that wields the same / more power as AMD will emerge. Intel controls the floodgates, and we aren't talking about...

The 920 recommendation seems solid. Any Intel people willing to recommend it? :) Not that I'm accusing the AMD ones of being fanboys, but if your "opponent" sides with you it's all the more convincing. Is there something we're missing?

T Stock, yes. AFAIK though the OCing potential redeems it quite a bit, when taking that into account it seems it beats the Q8XXX series, with the low Q9XXXs being not that much better. Which seems like a pretty awesome price/performance ratio.
