Windows XP, two small problems

I downloaded DirectX 9.0c straight from Microsoft's site, and when I try to install it, it starts the installation, but then gives me an error message that is doesn't have Microsoft's logo (signature), and so it won't install. When I've installed other things, there's an option to continue...

VGA cooler for GeForce4 Ti4200

Thanks for the advice! It worked perfectly. I unscrewed the fan from the heatsink (there were 3 tiny screws), but left the power wire to the fan attaached. Pulled the fan out from the mounting and saw the bearing. The bearing had a little space to slide up and down, so I slid it all the way...

After all that investigating of the voltage and the power supply today, I decided to check out the ram again, even tho it passed Prime95. So I swap one stick of ram out, cuz if it's the ram, then the system should still run on one stick. So I take one out, and go back and run 3dmark2001, which...

So I went back and installed some pretty old nvidia drivers (44.03) and the video glitches are gone. The video card's running at full acceleration now just fine. Then I found out XP defaults to auto resetting on errors, and I found out how to turn that off. (I'm new to XP) Everything was...
