Hard to believe you got "whopped" with producing nearly 14K WU :) Just a new member with some units joining us.
How about dropping #8 from the list and including #3? HWFr doesn't seem to be a thread to either of our teams anymore. (Nor does HP, but we need a foundation to stand on, right?)
I'm glad to see this kind of production. I've got a 3.2Ghz Prescott Dell coming my way in the near future. Probably won't be quite as fast since Dell runs conservative, but I'll take those kinds of numbers any day.
That seems a little bit on the slow side. My XP1800+ with 512MB of PC2100 runs 3:08 to 4:00 per WU. Rarely am I near the 4 hour mark unless it's a VLAR. No overclocking at all.
I'm fairly certain MS dropped ALPHA support with windows 2000. There should be an Alpha install on Windows NT 4.0, though. But I think you need an Enterprise edition or Server edition to get use of all 4 CPUs.
You're going to see us drop several dozen users in the coming days. Members who have been around for a long time and have a "zero" wu count will be removed from the team. Any member with 1 or more WU will never be removed from the team, unless in an extreme circumstance.
Also make sure that you don't run any CPU intensive screensavers. The best ones to run are blank screen or login box. Anything else will eat up CPU cycles and reduce your output.
I'd also recommend running SETI as a service. That way, you can log out of the system without affecting your...
I thought they had announced this to be the case, but I'm not 100% certain. We can only hope they decide to do that with some added pressure from us :)
I agree. I hate the fact that people "bring WU" with them when joining a team. Both of our teams have benefitted and been pounded by it at times. It will be a refreshing change when this doesn't happen with BOINC.
