    Need Help with Fan Problem!

Thanks for the reply. I don't know if I have a fan speed control on those front fans, what does it look like? Btw, when it didn't work, one of the first things I did was to test the header with a meter and the voltage seems ok. PS. You are correct about them being ADDA gold label fans.

    Need Help with Fan Problem!

I have a Lian Li P60 case and after connecting the 2 front case fans (in front of the disk-drive cage) to the MB's fan-header, they aren't running! Background: I just replaced my MB and I connected the single 3-pin connector from those 2-fans to the fan-header on the board (they worked fine...

    IDE Cable Connectors

That doesn't work for me either... I have 3 HDDs and 1 DVD-RW with 2 IDE board-connectors. I simply need a cable with twice the span between connectors! No such animal???

    IDE Cable Connectors

The distance between the master and slave connectors on the IDE cables that I have (or have ever seen) is only about 4" or so. I need a master-slave span of about 8" in order to connect a master HDD and a slave DVD-RW in my case. Can you guys suggest a place where I can get IDE cables that...

I don't have any confidence in what that pasted Asus description actually means, but if you are telling me that your WD SATA drive on the ICH5 SATA controller will not run at DMA 6 (according to what your v1014 BIOS reports), then that's scary (it could be that the BIOS is just not reporting it...

Cal State Fullerton I don't accept your conclusion that 'the ICH5's SATA controller went from UDMA 6 to UDMA 5', but it's certainly not surprising that your drives run at DMA 6 on the Promise controller. I've noticed similar resuts and have concluded that the Promise controller is simply...

Actually, I'm away from home - watching my son play in the college baseball super regionals. But I do have my notebook with me so I'm finally getting back to you (using Starbucks WiFi while enjoying a cup of java)! Apparently, there's a misunderstanding as to my remarks, so let me qualify...

No BIOS version will allow you to realize ATA/133 (UDMA 6) from the ICH5/ICH5R SouthBridge. The problem here isn't that Asus removed that support in v1014, but that they finally corrected the erroneous impression of that support. While v1011 and earlier BIOS's mistakingly indicated ATA/133...

Hey guys, I need some memory advice: I'm giving my current comp to my son and will be building another one using the P4C800 Deluxe. I wanted to check here before buying a pair of 512mb dual-channel memory sticks... Which ones would deliver the best performance in this board bearing in mind...

My moto is: "If it isn't broke, don't try to fix it" - but the moto of most others here seems to be: "If it isn't broke, tweak it until it is!" If you do decide to flash your BIOS, "AFUDOS is the safest method of all" (according to Asus).

Splotto~ Which BIOS version are you using? When I got my board about a year ago it had v1006 and I was experiencing some really wierd problems (mostly realated to booting-up). All of my problems went away when I upgraded my BIOS. ;)

The Maxtor DiamondMax 9 (ATA133) is a fast drive, but I believe in order to realize its faster transfer rates (with the P4C800 Deluxe) you would have to place it on the Promise 'edge' connector!
