recovering Raid 0 drives from old laptop

This is true. We recover RAIDs all the time and never require the controller card to be sent in, ONLY the disks (unless its a DROBO or something with some smart/beyond (stupid) RAID configuration).

my 3TB seagate stopped working

Glad it's working! Make sure to keep the data backed up and do not rely on this drive for anything. I would RMA it, because once a drive has an issue it's likely to continue down that road. And your health test shows it's still got issues.

This will tell you if it's in fact the hard drive or not. You should be able to. Your product key will still work as long as you reinstall factory version or the same version Win 7.
