looking for more volunteers eh? i think they have more than they can handle at this time. i've slowly taken my computers to different projects due to the frequent server slowdowns they have been having since multibeam was introduced. imho, they are really asking for more problems.

Wasted crunching power

what would I do? spend the money on a cheap x2 or core2duo and cheap mobo and get quadruple the output for the same amount of power consumption. but that's just me :/

BOINC's website will choose the x86 BOINC app when you visit it on a nix box, i figure it's because not all projects support x86_64 yet. Go to the "see all apps" page to dl the 64 bit version. IMHO, SETI under Linux x86_64 seems slower than x86 in windows on the same box. If you still...

same here on the new quad @ 3.2ghz when all else fails, up the vcore! something i've noticed about this race that's really hurting us is the pending credits. even though all teams have the same chance of being paired with a slow computer, it kinda fudges everyone's actual crunching power...

Question for you guys running a Q6600 G0 stepping

stock cooler is hardly adequate at stock speeds on a quad, imo i'm running a B3 stepping q6600 at 3.2ghz with a Zalman 9700 HSF temps are somewhere in the 60 deg C range all cores loaded, I don't really know the real temps because every monitoring program i've tried reports something...

of course, it's running 2.4v SSE3 (i've found it's faster than SSSE3 on my other quad) it took the place of an AMD 4600+x2 because the Foxconn mobo decided to die on me :D
