Actually no, as soon as you connect there's a "become captain" button that you can click within the first 10 seconds or so, after which if nobody clicked the captain is randomly chosen. :)

Haswell Quick Sync and discrete GPU

Actually, with handbrake now supporting quicksync, quality got definitely acceptable. Yes, it's not x264, but it's pretty good. I don't see how Virtu does anything about quality by itself tho, could you explain?

Over provisioning works and does make a difference: you don't need to wait three years, filling up the drive can take two weeks. Don't forget that over-provisioning also improves the lifespan of your NAND by a fair amount. It doesn't make sense not to do it on a 256GB drive, just don't overdo...

Are the next gen consoles the realization of AMDs HSA dream?

Some people overestimate the advantage from redirecting parallel workloads to the iGPU to implausible levels. It can provide huge benefits for certain workloads, but a game as a whole isn't one of them; HSA is certainly not the future of computing, just part of it, one of many improvements...

I would have agreed with you until a while ago, but not anymore. I have a 22" mitsubishi diamondtron: although of course I haven't abandoned it, recent IPS LCDs have surpassed its overall IQ (calibrated color reproduction is just as good and resolution, screen estate and pixel perfect geometry...

Based on what? You're citing ULV Core processors... a product with 100% market share is hardly a good comparison. The only Intel powered smartphone is sold for $420. Nobody would enter a new market with uncompetitive prices. And oh how many of those were sold. :\

Crazy is quite a bit of an overstatement. Just like any hard mod, you have to be competent; if you are, risks are very relative. Who can decently solder is not crazy for overvolting video cards, just willing to sacrifice the warranty - applying known mods with one or two soldering points is...
