Control CPU fan with turbo switch?

<< all you have to do is run one of the fans power wires through the turbo switch so that when you turn the button on it closes the circuit and the fan gets power...then when you turn it off the breaks the circuit and fan loses power >> I was thinking about that, but I was worried about...

Oh yeah, I also have the wires switched so that it's using just 7V for the fan instead of 12V.

The turbo switch is on/off - push it in, it turns on; push it again, it turns off. And my CPU fan is just using two wires (not directly wired to the motherboard, it's using power from one of the cables for the drive power). It's just an old AT case and motherboard.

can you lower fan speed?

<< don't use the free 4-pin end of the converter to power anything like a hard drive, after making this conversion! :Q >> Use the method on this page and you can still use the other end to plug in a drive :)

Control CPU fan with turbo switch?

I currently have a K6-2/500 CPU in my Linux box, and it runs fairly cool with just the heatsink, and the CPU fan not running. However, when I'm compiling or doing some other processor-intensive task, it tends to overheat and cause little problems. Since I'm not using the turbo switch on my case...

We aren't complaining because the offer is only good in the EU, its because they changed their page to say that after we signed up. Hopefully that's just for new signups, but I don't know.
