Hello:
I'm looking for some advice on a motherboard/cpu selection. I've built several computers in the past and looking to recycle some old hardware. My current system (Epox 8KHA+ just died). Here are my goals for the new system:
To be used by my in-laws for web-surfing, light Word...
You can usually get out of your lease if the place in uninhabitable.
Look for a clause in your lease. Document your complaints about the loud lady upstairs in writing.
This you can use as evidence to prove the place is uninhabitable and they didn't do anything.
The laws are on your side. Get...
If you're looking to buy a large amount of furniture, I highly suggest going to the furniture region of North Carolina. Most furniture manufacturers in the US are based there (High Point NC -- right outside of Greensboro).
I bought an entire room of furniture and saved approx 40% of what I...
Does anyone know of a fix for the CD-Burner problem with Turbotax?
I had TT2002 installed on my PC for a while and it ran smoothly. I heard about spyware on TT and that it could potentially screw up my CD-Burner.
Well my CD-Burner has not been working since I installed TT....Everytime Nero...
I think you will need more fans than just 2.
My case can accomodate up a total of up to 7 fans:
4 case fans (2 front, 2 back) + PSU power fan + CPU heatsink/fan + Chipset fan
Depending on what type of case you have, you will probably need some more airflow. I suggest getting at least 1 for the...
I had a 40 GB Deskstar that starting losing data. I sent it back to IBM and it took them approx 1 month before I got another one back in the mail.
It sounds as if your drive is starting to fail. Backup your critical data before it does.
I would suggest you get another HD and then send the...
Activation is relatively painless. I say go for it. I just upgraded to XP Pro and love it. Activation can be done over the phone or via internet. My activation took literally 5 seconds once the install was complete.
I know there are several cracked versions of XP Pro out there (do a search on...
Thanks for the links. But I should have specified what I wanted more clearly.
I read the FAQs and the links above but was looking for a way to disable MSN messenger without fiddling with the registry.
Since my "uninstall" using Control Panel -> Add remove programs obviously didn't work, I...
What type of HD are you getting?
I suggest one with at least 7200 RPM and transfer speeds that can accomodate ATA 100.
There are newer drives coming out that take advantage of ATA 133 and Serial ATA connectors...you may want to consider this for the future.
Also add to your system:

Hi all,
Just installed Windows XP Pro this weekend. After a format and fresh install, I used the Windows update feature to download and install all the critical updates and SP1 via the web.
I then went to control panel -> Add remove programs -> and then "uninstalled" Messenger.
For some...
For an even better deal, use the coupon to buy boxes of Kellogs marked with the Pink American Airline certificates.
Buy 10 boxes of cereal and get 2000 AA miles. At a valuation of roughly 2 cents per mile this ain't too shabby.
If you don't want the AA miles, goto the coupon connection forum on...
You shouldn't have messed with the network settings.
I did the same thing once on my work laptop and had to get the dang thing re-imaged because the tech guys didn't know the admin password either.
I know of no way to bypass logon unless you have admin privileges on that laptop.
check the cables again.
Repeated tugging on the cables can cause small separations between the plastic and wire. I've had this happen once and had to replace the entire cable.
Try a new cable.
