Why are gaming laptops still so damn ugly?

Most of any gaming hardware is ugly, including desktop cases and peripherals. That aggressive look is probably being inspired by violent nature and competitiveness in games. Either way I don't like it either. That's why I still use 14 yr old case as my desktop, I just always put new parts inside...

Any idea why Intel skipped the 5xxx number range for desktop?

This, they designed platform enitrely around mobile segment, even desktop CPUs are low power upto 65w

2500k Upgrade Questions, Part Deux

Be aware i7-3820 is LGA2011 and will not fit into LGA1155 board, and CPUs are cheap because boards are very expensive and not very available. Although the CPU itself is fast, please avoid it, it's a dead platform. And yes ivy bridge CPUs will work with P68 board as long as you have updated bios...
