umm, because its an auto body shop....and not an impound The bike was stolen from the parking lot, left in the woods somewhere, cops somehow came across it, and called this AUTO BODY SHOP to tow it to their lot sorry, yes I talked to the apartment complex to see if they had it towed for any...

sorry, i dont recall saying the shop was looking to keep the bike. I said the shop wanted to report it abandoned and thats how the cops found out yes the story changed from when I first posted this, clearly I didnt have all of the details and tried to add them as this thing progressed...

They didnt buy the bike, they were contacted by the PD to tow an abandoned bike found in the woods by my apartment.

Thanks CZroe, this is exactly correct. The PD has a rolling list of tow comapnies in the area, and when this bike was found by the PD they called this company to tow it Again all this happened before I reported it stolen. The towing company sent two letter to an address they were told was mine...

And this was exactly what they were going to start doing, except that when they ran the title again, it had been reported stolen and I was properly contacted by the PD. When the bike was first found by police and towed by this company there was no missing vehicle report, it wasnt til a week...

eat a dick phoenix, this isnt as clear cut as you think. Yea maybe if the bike were worth some money I'd want to go that route, but this is a 1977 dirt bike that i bought for 100$ 3 years ago

after being back at the shop here is the story: Cops found bike and called this shop to come tow it, this was on 7/15. I noticed it had gone missing (I live in a large apartment complex and the bike was stowed in the back of parking lot away from where I park so as to not take a useful spot) on...

Well I went down to the shop to take a look for any damage and it was locked up. The mechanic would not let me see my bike and promptly asked me to leave his property. I have a lawyer friend who is going to help me out. We are going to grab the police report today. I have no idea how the shop...
