Danime- what HSF are you using? I also got an Aria & MSI KM4AM-L, but am having trouble finding a HSF that looks like will fit and is quiet. I foolishly ordered the Zalman flower, then found out that the board doesn't have the mounting holes.. :frown:
Hey guys, great thread.. In the process of building a HTPC around an Aria. Last thing to pick is the MB. The aria manual says you need a board with 3 usb headers for the front ports + the card reader. The only board I have found that has this is the ECS KM400A-M2 Deluxe (currently sold out @...
A few updates-
I went back to the manual for my new WD 120G to see if anything jumped out at me, and I noticed that it said to put the master drive on the end IDE connector, and the slave on the middle connector.. This sounded vaguely familiar to me, so I checked my cabling, and both the hd's...
Interesting, I see that the cdrw is running at dma, but the dvd is ultra dma.. Ok, not so interesting, since I suppose the cdrw is only capable of dma (plextor 8432).. Still, wonder if I should make the dvd master and see what happens..
The optical drives are set for DMA if available, so I assume they're using it.
When I first got the cpu, I got a delta, which was too loud for me, so I replaced it with a sunon 80mm fan placed diagonally on the h/s, which seems to work well. After I first installed the sunon, the cpu ran at...
I built a system around an Athlon XP 1500 and an AK31 3.0 last year. At the time, I bought an Enermax case w/ 300W p/s which was enough at the time. Now, I've gotten into digital video, and have added another hard drive, and a dvd-rw. I have been having random reboots either when using the...
I have an old ati xpert @play (not the xpert 98) with s-video & video out.
When I connect either of those to my 27" Magnavox tv, the picture starts out
pretty good, but after 10-15 minutes, the color on the right side of the
screen starts to degrade. The whites turn brown, etc. It almost looks...
Subject says it all.
I know that the 1.2 athlon is the max according to AMD, but my thinking is since Palomino uses less power, 300W may cut it.. Or am I dreaming?
I've been holding out for Palomino, but am thinking that 1.2g at $85 is just too good. (currently run a K6-2 333 on a HOT-569).
Oops, after checking the manual from Epox, it looks like it has a max multiplier of 3. Looking at the list of supported cpu's, they have up to the K6-200 (66 * 3) so that all makes sense. So it looks like the K6-2 is out.
But what about the K6-3? It turns the x2 into x6, right? The only other...
I have a friend who has an old Epox P55-TV and he'd like to upgrade the pentinum 166 he has in there.
The board can apparently go down to 2.4v, which should be sufficient for any of the K6-2's.. Has anyone had any success with this?
Has anyone had favorable experiences with StudioDV (1.x) and newer VIA chipsets? (eg, KT266)?
I'm currently using it with a Shuttle HOT-569 and K6-2 333 with no problems.. I'm in the middle of an upgrade to an Athlon 1.2g. I had planned to go with the Gigabyte 7DXR until the KT266A benchmarks &...
