have you considered moving the mobo into a bigger case? I assume the 45w limitation is because of the power supply.
Alternatively you could probably install a full size card if you leave off the cover (or mod the cover) but then i'm not sure how safe that would be depending the environment...
From the limitations you describe, it sounds like a low profile GT1030 is your best bet. You could go the ghetto fabulous route of extension cables but it would not be aesthetically appealing,
Just curious, what are you trying to do with these SFF systems that the Intel HD 2500 graphics can't...
I want to say no re: 2Rx4. I tested this a couple of years ago and found that only 2Rx8 sticks would work.

I've done this before on an older motherboard. While it was a little nerve wrecking pulling the bios chip (with jewelers screwdriver) with the system running, it worked. You may want to practice removing the bios chip without power first.
I get exactly where you are coming from. 2 years of ago I side graded from a Core2Quad q6600@3GHz to an AMD A6-3650(2.6Ghz). Last year i "upgraded" to an A8-3870K(3Ghz). Neither APUs were overclocked, as my computing experience was always "good". Upgrading my video card & adding an SSD...
I've also been reading this thread for the past few weeks and had to debate the merits of buying into this vs a new Haswell (or Ivy-bridge) system. The biggest hurdle for me was the price of the X58 motherboards (and their lack of features compared to newer boards). In the end, to purchase a...
You know what? It just might be the ram. I also got 4 sticks of this memory (from Fry's) pretty cheap. I needed a motherboard that would support 8gb so I picked up an ASUS P5E-VM HDMI (g35 chipset). I would get periodic BSOD or reboots (stock, no overclocking). Running MEMTEST 86 showed ram...
According ot Directron's site, both of these drives only have a 1yr warrenty. Where are you getting the 5yr & 3yr from? I remember once buying an OEM Seagate assuming it had a 5yr warranty only to later find out it was only 15 days. Luckily the drive is still going strong 2 years later.
I was using these for Xbox 360 backups and I would get failed burns about 3 out of 10 on my NEC 3500. I then upgraded to a Pioneer 111 and still got failed burns but only about 1 out of 10. I got them from meritline when they were 50 for less than $50. I wouldn't use them again.
My last...
