Not quite true -- ONLY if you ship UPS Ground. UPS Air, while exorbant, does not charge a brokerage fee; just applicable taxes.

Any ideas for a non-mechanical time keeping device?

Waterclock? (Hole in a bucket which has appropriate graduations.) A swinging pendulum would also work, and is very simple to analyze with basic high school physics. Or if you need more precision, you could try measuring the decay of cesium... ;)

Whats the best RC plane out there?

3 channel = a 3-channel radio. (Throttle, Rudder, and Elevator.) As you move up the RC ladder, you can increase the number of channels for more control (ailerons, et cetera). Futaba is the name of a manufacturer of all sorts of RC parts, most notably transmitters, recievers, and servos...

i bought a 12" ibook g4 last nite

The only way you can do it is if you have an external keyboard or mouse... read this. I would just leave it open, if I were you. As some people have pointed out, Powerbooks (most laptops, in fact) vent through the keyboard.
