CRT whine

Yeah, I had been running it at 1280x960@100Hz. I've got it backed down to 1280x960@85Hz and we'll see how well it does at that, though I belive I've had it as low as 1280x1024@75Hz and it still did it. I've only had the monitor a year (used, manufactured end 2001) and its been doing this a...

Just tried it, didn't help. If I turn it off for about 30 seconds and back on it fixes it for about 10 minutes or so but that's probably hard on the monitor :(

Every now and then my monitor will start to emit an extremely high pitched whine that drives me crazy! I did some searching on google and it seems some monitors do exibit this type of behavior but near as I can tell there's no solution to this. Monitor in question is a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro...

Choosing an ISP

A friend of mine needs to choose an ISP and would prefer not to spend more than $10 a month. Now there's a ton of ISPs to choose from and I'm not sure which one I should go with. If someone could point me in the right direction to help her make a good choice it would be appreciated...

I'd rather go with an S12 for the better effiency and quieter running (they're both fairly quiet though, quieter is all relative). The S12s are extremely efficent which should cut down on the heat in my room (now if only I could afford some LCDs to replace the heat pumping CRTs...) somewhat...

I think I'll go with an S12 based on www.silentpcreview.com research. The question is do I go with the 430W @ $100 or the 500W @ $130. Now I know my computer (or chances are anything built in the foreseeable future) will pull even close too 430W, the issue is connectors. The difference...

Nice link! :) It looks like the S12 series seems to be the verdict. The first model to come with a PCI-e connector is the 500W model and that's about $60 ($130 vs $70) more than most of the PSU's (like the Antec TruepowerII480). Though by getting an extremely strong (and quiet) PSU now...

Yeah, a lot of people seem to be recomending that option. How difficult is it to install? Obviously it voids any warranty (though RMAing isn't the most painless of processes usually...). I've only ever installed a CPU heatsink on my XP1900 (Zalaman silent heatsink).
