You need to install Win2K first to make it dual-boot with WinXP. You should also create 2 different partitions for the two OS's. Since you have WinXP already installed, use FDISK to delete the existing partition (I suppose you have only one now), create 2 new partitions, make first one active...
I created a 'new' 3GB partition 'in front' of the existing 55GB partition to install the fresh Win2000 Server. It is working fine, but the problem is with the original large partition on which both WinXP and Win2K were installed.
I am sorry for the incomplete sentence. Here is a modified sentence. ' When I try to boot into WinXP Pro by choosing 2nd option in the boot menu, I am getting this error " Windows2000 could not start because the following file is missing or corrupted: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEMd startup...
I bought a laptop with Win XP Pro preinstalled. I installed Win 2000 Server on it without creating a separate partition for Win2000. I got dual-booting options but both the OS s are reading from the same NTFS file system which I wanted to avoid. With Partition Magic, I created a 3GB partition...
Hi:
I reently crashed a hard drive and replaced it with a diffrent one. Everything is fine, but after reading RAM and KB and mouse, it is waiting way too long (nearly 60 sec) to recognize the hard disk and dvd-writer before loading OS. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Hi!
This might be a simple question for you guys! Any advice will be greatly arrpeciated. I have a hard disk of 12GB with Windows 2000 and a lot of other other software installed on it. How do I transfer everything onto a 40GB disk and run my OS with the 40GB disk?
Hi!
I don't know whether this is possible or not. Can we boot a laptop with an external hard disk through USB port? Laptop hard disks are slow and small and expensive too. Can we do dual-boot with one OS from laptop's internal hard disk and another OS from external hard disk...
Hi! I am a newcomer to this forum. This is going to be a silly question. I am going to buy a notebook for learning some serious software stuff. Is FAT32 file system advisable or NTFS? I prefer to use Windows 2000 rather than Windows XP. I got confused by "override" stuff on Dell website...
Thanks you guys, I am going to buy a Latitude. Dell has offered the usual 15% off email-exclusive. Can we expect some more discounts before Christmas or this week-end is going to be the last for any discount offers?
I want to run a big software like PeopleSoft or Oracle Applications on a laptop for practising purposes. Dell Inspiron 8600 will do? Or I have to get Precision M60? I don't need gaming capabilities, but Precision costs a lot more than Inspiron. Any suggestions??
Thanks! So can I choose something like Inspiron 1100 with 60GB hard drive and 1GB memory? I won't need sophisticated graphics card to run those softwares, right? All I need is a fast CPU. Does a faster FSB help for these softwares?
I want to run softwares like PeopleSoft, Oracle Applications, SQL Server2000 on a laptop because I will have to practise them while I am on move for the next few months. Is it possible? Can anyone advise me which laptop should I buy. Will Dell Precision M60 do the work?
