The highest I could get the fan and CPU core temperature with 4 instances of CPU burn in running is 6000 RPM and 54 degrees (with GPU idle). How hot can a Phenom II get and still be safe (and last a long time), if I start messing with fan speeds? The case is on a wooden floor. I'm pretty...

Well, if the CPU fan speed was forcefully lowered, the CPU would get hot, right? I mean, it crossed the 60's under load when the case was closed WHILE being very loud. So it might be more of a ventilation problem.... I'm actually trying to decide how to make the fans run at about 3k RPM...

How to pack a computer for moving?

You could take it apart and pack everything in foam/bubble wrap separately. But make sure to take lots of pictures so you know how to assemble it properly. Or, don't pack the computer in with everything else, and just put it in the back seat of your car (you'll have to move your car too, right?)

Sorry I like my CRT just fine. :P It's good flat CRT that can do 1400x1050@100hz, not one of those cheap ones (though I still bought it for $50 on ebay). Yes, I'll do this instead if I decide that putting everything on the desk is dangerous. :) Thanks for the advice. On close inspection...

DONT use 32 bit, you will not be able to use all 4 GB of your RAM.

Even if you could, that would cost significantly more than just getting Pro in the first place, considering you'd have to pay for both upgrade packages. Plus, you can get Pro at a discount right now.

PC Building Advice Needed!

If you like multi tasking, 4 cores are better than 2. Also, some games are more optimized for several cores than others (usually there is a negative correlation between the age of the game and how many cores it uses).
