Win2K equivalent of Win98's .pwl file?

I can see all the files. There is nothing *.pwd in Windows 2000 on this computer.

I've got both OS's installed and am trying to "migrate" over to Win2k from the 98 partition. I need the password list from Win98. You know, the one that stores all your User IDs and PWs for different websites. I thought I could just copy it over but I don't find a .pwl file in Win2k (even though...

Flakey Modem?

In Windows 98SE, the first time I try to connect to the internet after starting my computer, most of the time the port opens but the modem doesn't dial. I have to click "Cancel" on the dial up connection then click "Connect" again, and then about 90% of the time it goes as far as "Verifying user...

I still haven't had the presence of mind to actually keep track of how much time passes before the sound goes bad after starting the computer. My best guess is around 3 hours. It happens every time the computer is long enough.

It happens regardless if I am using the computer or it's idle. I don't use screensavers normally. I have not actually timed it to see if it always occurs a specific number of hours + minutes after starting up, but it seems to take something like between 2½ to 3 hours. It's not an intermittent...

Very hard to describe.... You ever seen paper coming out of a paper shredder? Imagine sound being shredded like that. And it reverberates, too. It's actually painful to listen to.

Maybe this is a dumb question...

But it comes from someone with very little experience. I read some of these posts that mention using a partition for backups.... I thought if the HD crashed, the whole thing would be useless? Isn't it a better idea to backup the important stuff onto a 2nd physical drive?
