AMD rumored to release Radeon RX 500X series in Q3 2018

I'm not necessarily against the idea of them releasing Polaris again in some form, but I don't think bumping the clocks 5% is going to cut it. If they released Polaris on a smaller process (12nm? *I know it's mostly just marketing) with GDDR6? Not even sure how bandwidth starved Polaris was...

I'm actually kind of hoping the prices dip lower and retreat for awhile, as an opportunity for others to invest and for the GPU market prices to recover to normal levels.

This is true, but difficulty has also gone up pretty dramatically since July hasn't it? I've also been seeing RX 470's and GTX 1060's in stock and much closer to MSRP than ever before. I feel like the last few months miners have been holding out that the price would remain high or would rebound...

I'm confused as to why they decided to half the size of the memory bus on Vega compared to Fury? From the sounds of it this thing is still going to draw power like crazy so it doesn't seem like there was any huge power savings there. I guess using HBM2 offset the reduced bandwidth but I still...

Honestly, further price drops would probably be healthy not only to slow the insane difficulty jumps but also to cool down the crazy price jumps on GPU's and lack of inventory. I think the mining craze has really hurt availability/prices for gamers.

Yeah, the much wider bus is probably the difference. I'll probably just mine Zcash instead, though it does seem like a pain to have to worry about exchanging it all the time for Ethereum. What's the best mining program these days for mining Zcash on NVIDIA cards? Thanks :)

No, I've just got a pretty standard GTX 1080 windforce. I did read this on the claymore thread so it seems to be a common issue. I doubt I would get much higher than 5500mhz anyway, but 5600 or 5700 might be possible. I know the 1080 isn't great for mining, but I don't understand why the 1080...

Yeah I just tried eVGA precision and I'm still getting the same weird behavior, if I don't have Claymore running, the clock speed of the memory jumps to 6000mhz (or whatever I set it to) if I apply the overclock in the software, but as soon as I fire up Claymore and start mining, the clockspeed...

I've got my 1080 overclocked and it seems to cap out at 5500mhz memory clock while mining. I've got the memory slider completely maxed and while gaming it will run at 6000mhz (which is unstable) but during mining it drops back down to 5500 and stays there, any idea how I can bump it up a bit...

What kind of hash rates do the 1060's pull with overclocked memory in Zcash? If I have a 1080 as my primary GPU in my main rig, could I buy an extra 1060 and install it as a secondary card and have it mining all the time in the background?

Polaris Refresh (RX 500 Series) Rumors

50mhz core clock bump :/ This is easily within range of where people were overclocking 470's so I find it very unimpressive :( I get it though, AMD wants a full "new" product stack for when Vega launches, but I wish these cards were more than a simple clockspeed bump. It definitely felt more...
