I was able to determine two issues:
1. Not sure how but someone (cough cough) disabled Legacy USB setting in BIOS
2. The windows drivers that come with the MB are no good

"Slow audio" is not typically motherboard issue - or any other hardware issue for that matter... It's usually a software-related problem. What kind of setup do you have?
"Slow system" might be a sign of mismatched RAM, but it wouldn't be intermittent, I wouldn't think.

GRC's SpinRite is a good tool for recovering disks with bad sectors. It will give you very detailed information if you ask it to, or you could just monitor it as it scans. You have to pay for it tho. . .
