Anyone else getting a Samsung S25?

Yes, that would be deprioritized T-Mobile service. The postpaid T-Mobile users will have higher priority on the towers, and will have a better experience. But they'll also be paying more every month; possibly a lot more.

Question Looking for a phone for my mother in law…

The three primary cell providers have all shut down their 3G equipment. All but T-Mobile have also shut down their 2G equipment, with T-Mobile shutting down their remaining bits of 2G "any day now." There may be a few small regional carriers who still have 2G or 3G equipment active. Like...

Anyone else getting a Samsung S25?

Yes - there are several MVNOs who offer service through Verizon's network/towers. Off the top of my head - US Mobile, MobileX, Lexvor, Red Pocket, Spectrum, Xfinity. Probably a few more than I'm forgetting. And there's the Verizon-owned flanker brands that also use Verizon's network/towers -...

Question Looking for a phone for my mother in law…

Also there are mini bluetooth keyboards like this: https://www.amazon.com/LILYGO-T-Keyboad-Low-Power-Bluetooth-Development/dp/B0CWP559HH/ But there's a fair chance that it would be forgotten / left behind quickly.

Question Looking for a phone for my mother in law…

The E72 is 2G & 3G. Unlikely to work in USA. GSM Arena shows 20 4G-capable phones with QWERTY keyboards: https://www.gsmarena.com/results.php3?s4Gs=0&idQwerty=1 All are discontinued models. Physical QWERTY keyboards are pretty much non-existent these days, other than maybe that Unihertz...

Question Looking for a phone for my mother in law…

The Nokia C3-00 is a 2G phone. It won't work in USA on a cellular network.

    Pixel 8?

You can buy another. :) Otherwise no, not really. Unless it's still sitting in the trash can... which you've presumably already checked. I'd definitely be annoyed at myself if I did that!

    I'm joining the T-Mobile 5G Revolution...

Yep. They're a third-party company that contracts with T-Mobile to provide service through T-Mobile's network. But they're being purchased by T-Mobile, so will soon actually be T-Mobile (like Metro) unless the government blocks the purchase. And Cricket is AT&T (as in, owned by). US Mobile...

    My friend keeps killing batteries!

Probably referring to a battery replacement service from the manufacturer, or by a 3rd-party service/repair place like uBreakiFix.

    My friend keeps killing batteries!

Samsung does have an option buried in the settings to limit the maximum charge level to 85%. Other phones may have a similar setting. This "always plugged in" usage pattern is one of the rare scenarios where it makes sense to enable that setting.

Is it bad to charge a battery to 100%?

Charging to 100% is fine. Just don't leave the phone connected to the charger and at 100% charge level for most of its life. Most of us wouldn't do that - but there are rare occasions where that is done. And that's why Samsung has the 85% charge limit buried in the settings. Charge your...

Which Motorola phone should I get for under $200 (Huge Sale!)

None of those are great. The G Stylus 5G (2021) is probably a bit better than the others due to the Snapdragon 480 CPU - but that's still slow and it'll have limited remaining software updates. The Moto G Stylus 5G (2022) is a much better choice for an additional $50. Faster CPU, more storage...

Help looking getting a new phone

That's an international phone. Don't buy that for use in the USA - especially if you hope to use it with Verizon or AT&T. There is no US version of the A73 but you could go with an A53.

    Future of long-lasting batteries

All of that would be great - if the phone manufacturers would retain the same battery size. But they likely won't. They'll make the phones even thinner, with smaller batteries. Thin sells. But I hope that consumers will eventually recognize that thinner isn't always better.

    Is Microsoft retarded?

Indeed - and they had smartphones running Pocket PC / Windows CE (the precursor of Windows Mobile) at least 4 years before iPhone or Android. But they thought that the smartphone market would be a small one, limited primarily to business use. If they had put some effort into it they could have...
