Thanks guys, I just bit the bullet and purchased him a Ryzen 3600 and and the Asus x570 Tuff Gaming Plus Wifi board. I have 16gb DDR 4 laying around to pair with it. Sucks that I ruined what could have been a somewhat decent entry level rig for him but now he'll have no worries anytime soon as...
Was hoping to pass an old gaming rig (GA-Z68X-UD7-B3 / i7-2600k / GTX 1060) to my girlfriends son who is interested in moving over from console gaming. Unfortunately I have destroyed that mobo socket (RIP MOFO). My quandary at this point is whether it makes sense trying to find a used Z68 or...
Thanks aigomorla! On your advice I chipped in some of my own money and bought her a 960 evo 500gb NVMe. Hell, might as well have no regrets right? The machine is built and ready for windows. Do you recommend purchasing a physical copy or digital copy? Does it make any difference with regard...
Thanks aigomorla, the case already has a 140 below the radiator, also pulling from the front. I'll follow your advice and add a second fan to the rad though, for a total of 3 fans up front pulling in, and a single 140 exhaust fan next to the MB IO. I still have the option of adding two more...
unfortunately the rad will not clear the mobo up top, not much clearance up there so front mount is the only option. At this point its down to which fans where and which way to point them. This PC is for the GF so she wont mind but really bummed that i did not see this airflow problem in time...
Starting the build tonight and realized I'm unsure which way to set up airflow. Not enough clearance at top or back so the x42 must be placed at the front (will be placing it in the top position same as in the attatched pic). Just realized I'm unsure between pushing case air through the rad...
well no, thought i was clear in saying that no threads have been stripped YET, but i cant get enough alignment to dare to force it, sorry if i wasnt clear enough.
It's crooked enough that I know whats coming if i try to force it though but yeah, seems like the next step in pressure will be to...
You are missing my point. yes in the 2nd pic it does look like it would work perfectly, but the problem is that the slot in the standoff retaining screw will not allow the screw to slide far enough into the slot, resulting in a thread misalignment. I feel like "maybe" i could force it that...
Yeah, if you look at my pics, there is a standoff. The issue is that it's "groove" does not fit into the indent fully (either the slot on the standoff was machined improperly, or the indent on the SSD is out of spec). I'm putting my money on the standoff being wrong. Bottom line is im not...
Installing a New 960 Evo M.2 NVMe onto a new MSI Z370-A Pro motherboard. The M.2 retention screw which came with the motherboard has a slot machined into the top end of it which looks like it is supposed to accept the indent on the outside end of the M.2, which aligns the SSD perpendicular to...
