    Via VB7001G Source?

Thanks for the release date info update thorin. Will check Fry's, newegg, and eWiz to see if they will carry it. bupkus - there are other mini-itx solution available with more power, but they are more $$$. One is the Albatron KI690-AM2. It's Mini-Itx and uses one of the better intergrated...

How to dislpay POST screen in Shuttle ST20G5?

You can press <TAB> while the splash screen is showing to display the POST screen. There is no BIOS setting to force POST display, but there is one way to make it show the POST screen all the time. You need to hack the BIOS file and remove the splash screen images. THIS IS VERY, VERY, VERY...

Saw an update on the Intel D201GLY board from silentpcreview: Intel D201GLY2 @ IDF (Japanese) D201GLY2: Celeron 215-> Celeron 220 (1.33Ghz -> 1.2Ghz), plus 2 SATA. Boards are scheduled to ship in 4th Quarter. Intel showed a newer model called the D201GLY2 Awesome! "cooled completely...

Humm... Be careful of those DDR2-800 (PC2-6400). These VIA boards are kinda finicky about memory, and most of the DDR2-800 are overclocking mem that need 2.0+V. Also it doesn't like high density memory, so hope you got a double sided stick. Anyways, look forward to your report and impressions...

Smallest, quiestest, pc with desktop components

I got a Pentium-M 750 (1.86Ghz/533FSB) to go with it. It's pretty nice and peppy. I've undervolted it to 0.716V @ 800Mhz and 0.988V @ 1.86Ghz using RM Clock. 98% of the time, the system is at 800Mhz. It's probably sipping electricity at these levels, so I'm happy saving on my electricity bill...

Yeah... the LN10000EG is the first lower cost, modern, passive mini-itx mb I've seen. Everthing else is $180+ which is a bit too expensive. The D201GLYL does have a PCI slot, so I thought in MichaelD's case, he would have a PCI RAID card he would use for his NAS. But it seems he just wants to...

Logic Supply has proper pictures of the VB7001G board. linky More pics You can see the tall heatsink with embedded fan. You can also see the price difference between them and eWiz. That's why I'm hoping eWiz/newegg will carry LN10000EG soon, but I dunno if they will since mini-itx aren't...

Smallest, quiestest, pc with desktop components

I just built a Shuttle SD11G5. Newegg is clearing them out for $150 + ship. It's not C2D, but uses Pentium-M. But the price is good. You can get CPU for $50-100 on eBay. It's probably the quietest PC I own. Only one 92mm fan for the ICE CPU cooler, which runs at about 800rpm. The PSU is a big...

    Via VB7001G Source?

No, the VB7001G is not passive. It has a heatsink + fan. The other board I mentioned IS passive, the LN10000EG. But I can't find it for a good price yet. Most of the places are listing it for around $137+. I'm waiting for it to be under $110. If you're interested in building a NAS, you might...

    Via VB7001G Source?

Want something totally passive, no fans, so I can leave on 24/7 for downloads/VPN access. Spent too much time buying silent fans or heatsinks, so finally want to get something made for totally passive use. All the other passive models are $180+. There are some around the $110 range, but those...

help me build a cheap SFF pc

That's the thing... If you want small, you're gonna pay a premium. You can stick these Mini-Itx mb into a regular ATX case if you want. Those are like $20+. Then that way, you can use regular sized components, so it'll be cheaper. Getting under $200 would be tough for small sized...

help me build a cheap SFF pc

The problem with that D201GLY board is that it has that tall heatsink/fan, so it doesn't fit most normal Mini-itx cases. You can try another MB you can use is the VIA VB7001G C7-D 1.5GHz. Goes for around $92 @ eWiz. The Intel one probably performes better, but this one will fit into most...
