I've got my Bachelor of IT and aced Datacoms and Networks, and I still remeber most of the nitty gritty, so the basics shouldn't bother me. It's just the Cisco-centric stiff that I need to study up on.

I'm aware of how self-study works :) I did a fair bit of my BIT/BSc(Applied Physics) externally. The main problem is... That's what I'm trying to do! lol No, my BIT is the only 'paper' I've got. I'd signed up for a Sun Java Cert pracice exam but I never got time to do anything about it...

I'm thinking about more RAM, not sure if the case will even fit another HDD (it's already got four, in a small case).

Yet another "which distro" thread?

What differences are there between the desktop and the server install, other than the lack of Gnome? I'll download the server ISO tonight and give that a go. Setting up CUPS and Samba from a command line...yay :S

So far I've tried: Ubuntu 7.10 regular disc = installed, but wouldn't boot. I think I screwed up the /boot section. openSUSE 10.3 = worked, but couldn't get RAID loaded and was just generally slow ClarkConnect 4.2 Community = would not recognise my Ethernet port (Realtek issues with that...

Seamonkey on Puppy Linux

Never mind, turns out the problem was just cookies being blocked. Checking "Allow All" fixed the problem for Hotmail at least and he was going to try the rest later. Don't I feel stupid :S :)

I've just setup a kiosk-like PC for a client of ours, using Puppy Linux (a lightweight DSL-like distro, typically live-CD but I've put it on the HDD). The only program I've left in the "Start" menu is Seamonkey, the default browser. I'm not sure if it has Java or not, I didn't get time to check...
