I was playing Witcher 2 and the screen went green with some horizontal lines and I turned the computer off. Now when I turn it on there is no display at all. Is it definitely a dead video card? It's a 7850 2GB.

It's hard to believe, but I did what you said and it seems to be working fine now! All the connections seemed solid, but I disconnected and reconnected the power to to the motherboard anyway. I still don't really know what the problem was. If I have more problems I'll be back. Thank you!
Yes it may say that 500W is required, but that would only be if I had a ton of other parts drawing power. The 7850 only draws like 10W idle, 100W load so I'm sure my power usage is well under 450W.

I won't be able to test for another 12 hrs or so, but previously I made sure all the connections were solid and tested removing the battery while disconnected from the wall, but the connections to the mobo were still in place at the time. I can try it your way later.

Well I put the 120 mm fan back in and there's no problem now! Maybe the fan clips weren't pushed all the way into the heat sink the first time and they were in contact with something. I'm glad I didn't do any damage!

I don't think it's hitting anything. The fan sticks out more towards the side panel of the case, but that's about it. I'll put it back in later and check that out to make sure.

I just replaced a 90 mm Scythe PWM cpu fan with a 120 mm Scythe Kama PWM fan (DFS122512L) and had a strange problem with my sound. I had to turn the speakers way up to get the normal volume level, and, of course, the hiss was horrible. I put the 90 mm fan back in and there's no problem again...
Alright, I solved the problem, and it is quite embarrassing! It was the mouse after all. When switching the mouse, the problem persists until the computer is rebooted. I must not have rebooted the first time I tried a different mouse.

Well the mouse problem came back. I tried an ATI video card and I had the same problem with VLC and a game. Before the video card drivers are installed and I'm running low res VLC actually works, but I sometimes have the mouse problem. Then once the drivers are installed VLC stops working and...

Thanks for the advice. I pulled the battery, reset the bios and I'm back in Windows. Unfortunately it did not fix the problem.
Maybe it's still a motherboard issue. That won't be very easy to test though, right? Tomorrow if I can find a video card at work I'll try running off of that.
Oops, I posted to say it was working with a PS2 connection, but the problem just started again. I think the issue is that it is clicking by itself. It's not the mouse; I did try another one.

This problem has gradually gotten worse over the last week, and it is application dependent. With windows the problem seems erratic. At times I can't click on the taskbar, but can click on icons, or vice versa. Pressing ctrl alt del and closing the task manager fixes the problem...
